Weekend trips or short two or three day trips have become one of my favorites. Going to a place that is just far enough away that it feels like I am escaping my regular life is my new jam. Now let me preface this blog post by saying that yes we did travel during a pandemic and yes we were very cautious and were constantly making sure we were sanitizing and wearing our masks.
Going to Vegas during these times seemed a little iffy to me but I said if we are going to go then we need to be staying somewhere CLEAN! We decided on the Venetian and the reason was because they were offering a buy one night in a suite get the second night for free for any essential workers. The Venetian is one of the nicest hotels to stay at in Vegas so I was not shocked at all that they had the Covid precautions down pat.

When we entered our suite it seemed very clean and they even had a kit for us in the room waiting. The kit included hand sanitizer and masks for us. They had a limit of people to every elevator going up to the rooms and masks were mandatory throughout the entire hotel (even in the halls to the rooms). Our room was so beautiful! If you want a closer look at our room you can go to my instagram @ashhtaylor and go to my Vegas highlights and you can see a room tour!

One of my favorite things to do when staying in a nice hotel is ordering breakfast in bed, so of course we had to do it! I did eat by myself because Richie hates eating in bed so he went to the coffee table in our suite. Everything was delicious, so if you stay at the Venetian it is a must!
We did venture out of the hotel for a couple reasons, the most important was for FOOD! Richie and I love to try new restaurants whenever we travel but we also have our favorites that we always go back to.

One of our all time favorites is definitely Secret Pizza in the Cosmo. Secret Pizza doesn’t seem to be much of a secret anymore though. It had a huge line coming out of this little hole in the wall. Richie actually showed me this place and now every time we come to Vegas we have to stop here. They have New York style pizza that is AMAZING! You can get just slices or order a whole pie. But be aware that this is literally a hole in the wall down a long hallway, this is not a sit down restaurant. There is no seating available, it is a grab and go type of situation.

One restaurant that has been our foodie bucket list has been Hell’s Kitchen and we got to check it off this weekend! To be honest I was studying the menu for weeks before even going, making sure I knew exactly what I wanted to order. I of course had to get what Mr. Gordon Ramsey was known for, Beef Wellington. I have never had this dish before and I was blown away with how good it was! We read that it is more of holiday dish and that Ramsey cooks this for Christmas and I can definitely see this as a holiday dinner. It has that warm and toasty flavor that you just expect during the holidays. Our server was beyond amazing too. Everything there was spectacular and we will definitely be returning.

We did go and do a few socially distant activities. One of them being the Shark Reef in the Mandalay Bay. It was on the smaller side but the theming was so cool. When you walk into the last room it is if you were walking underwater onto a sunken ship that was surrounded by sharks and turtles. You stand in the middle and there are glass floor windows and glass ceiling windows so you can see sharks swim above and below you! Like how freaking cool is that?! It definitely isn’t a long activity but I think it is really awesome to check out if that is your thing or if you have little kiddos.
We didn’t do a bunch of gambling but Richie did do some sports betting and actually won! That is only a surprise to some of our close friends because since we have been dating whenever he comes to Vegas with me he always looses when gambling. He thinks I am some kind of bad luck charm, but he cant say that now! HA!

Since we were staying at the Venetian I felt like we NEEDED to ride the cute gondolas. Okay so maybe need is a strong word but I really wanted to! It was such a cute little ride. They had someone serenade you and you get a little view of all the shops inside the hotel. It was definitely a cute little romantic activity.
Other than that we just did a lot of relaxing and spending some time together. Little turn around trips are so good for the soul. A little escape from your job and routine is sometimes something you really need to do. Make sure you are doing it safely but get some mental health days in there too.
We don’t have any more plans to travel until Covid is completely over but where do you think we should go next? Let me know!
xoxo,
Ash
